What a week for the intramural program and all our participants! The Thursday indoor co-ed league served up some fantastic soccer matches, resulting in many highlight worthy goals and saves. With all ten teams in action on February 16th, we witnessed many great matchups. Without a doubt, the highly anticipated “Unreal Madrid” vs. “ Team Trisha” proved to be the match of the evening.
The seesaw battle saw Madrid take an early lead followed by a swift counter attack from Team Trisha. Trisha was then able to lock down the defensive zone through great man-to-man coverage as well as stellar goaltending. When all was said and done, Team Trisha walked away with the win and a share of first place. Both Team Trisha and Unreal Madrid boast an impressive 83.3 win percentage to lead the league.
This is not to take away from any other match that took place, as all the contests were worthy of a spotlight mention. Unfortunately, only one team can take “win of the night” honors. In this case it was without a doubt “Vidi Vici Veni”, who rolled through “Kicker Instinct” with a commanding 13-0 final score. Vidi burst onto the scene on this night and displayed slick passing and terrific ball striking. Their goalkeeper faired equally as good as the attackers, with a goose egg to show for his efforts.
The final shout out goes to all the goalkeepers for this week’s matches. Each an every one of them played outstanding and kept most games fairly close. We hope to see many great saves in the weeks to come as we approach the playoffs.
Congrats to all the players and teams for a stellar performance!
